SAF(The Study Abroad Foundation)와 교류 협정 체결

국민대학교(총장 이성우)와 The Study Abroad Foundation(John Belcher, President - 이하 SAF)은 27일 오전 10시 국민대학교 총장실에서 [국민대학교 - The Study Abroad Foundation MOU 조인식]을 가졌다. 이에따라 SAF에 가입된 영어권 60여개 회원교와 동시에 협정을 체결한 효과를 같게되어, 본교 학생들의 방문학생 기회가 대폭 증대하게 되었다.
조인식에는 국민대학교 이성우 총장과 정승렬 대외교류처장 등이 배석하였으며, SAF에서는 John Belcher, President와 Henry Oh 한국 대표가 배석하였다.
이번 조인식을 통해 국민대학교 학생들은 2010학년도 2학기부터 SAF Program을 통해 SAF의 글로벌 네트워크를 통해 우수한 영어권 대학에서 방문학생으로 수학할 수 있게 되었다. SAF는 미국의 비영리 공공 교육재단으로 매년 우수한 아시아권 학생에게 영어권 우수 대학에서 수학할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있으며, 우리나라에서는 이미 25개의 대학이 SAF의 회원교로 참여하고 있다.
SAF의 글로벌 네트워크에는 60여개의 대학 등이 있으며 Columbia University, Oxford University, Vanderbilt University 등 영어권 유수 대학이 포함되어 있으며 향후 Harvard University도 회원교에 추가될 예정이다.
SAF 프로그램으로 해외에 파견되기 위해서는 각 대학별 자격요건을 충족하여야 하며, 우리 대학 국제교육원을 통해 지원을 하면 된다. SAF 프로그램에 관심이 있는 학생은 9월 10일 14시 북악관 1010호에서 실시될 방문학생 설명회를 통해 더 자세한 사항을 알 수 있다.
이번 조인식을 본교가 해외 대학과의 교류뿐만 아니라, 국내 대학과의 활발한 교류협력을 통해 교육 및 연구에 있어서 수월성과 다양성을 제고하는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
