대학 최초 우주인 전문 연구소 ‘한국우주인연구소’ 창립

우리 대학이 대학으로는 최초로 우주인 전문연구기관으로 우주산업연구를 수행할 “한국우주인연구소 (KIFA: Korea Institute for Astronauts)를 창립했다.
이는 다가오는 달탐사와 화성탐사 (2034)에 참가하는 우주인 선발정책, 국제기준, 우주탐사에 발생하는 잠재적인 위험요소와 안전문제 해결을 위한 우주의학, 우주복, 우주식량, 우주관광, 장애물과 정신건강 향상을 통해 한국 우주산업 선진화를 위해 출범 되었다.
스마트 모빌리티로 대변되는 미래 이동수단과 AI 기술이 접목된 국제우주산업 발전에 대응하기 위해 설립되어 우주비행 관련 인간연구의 이론 및 응용 정책. 기술을 연구개발함으로써 한국 우주과학기술의 발전에 기여하게 된다.
초대소장으로 미항공우주국 (NASA) 인간연구프로그램 심사위원 (Judge for NASA HRP IWS)이고 ANU 우주연구원의 우주인 책임연구자 (Mission Specialist, ANU Institute for Space, Australia)인 한국계 호주인 데이비드 윌리엄 김 교수가 선임되었다 (david_kim@kookmin.ac.kr).
