국내 최대 자동차 경주대회인 '슈퍼 레이스' 개막전에서 20살의 반란이 일어났다. 이번 레이스의 주인공은 올해 우리 대학 자동차학과에 모터스포츠 특기생(수시 1차 기능실기우수자 전형)으로 입학한 김동은(12학번) 학생이다. 그는 지난 6일 전남 영암 코리아 인터내셔널 서킷에서 열린 2012 헬로모바일 슈퍼레이스 챔피언십 1전 '슈퍼 6000'(스톡카, 배기량 6200㏄급) 결선에서 3.45㎞ 서킷 23바퀴를 31분14초330 성적으로 국내 최강 김의수(40·CJ레이싱)와 황진우(30·발보린레이싱) 선수를 제치고 우승의 영예를 안았다. 카트 드라이버로 출신으로 기본기를 다진 젊은 김동은이 우승하자 모터스포츠계는 "세대교체의 신호탄이 올랐다"고 평가했다. 김동은은 지난해 말 한국모터스포츠 대상 시상식에서 신인상을 받은 유망주다. |
