복지부 사회복지정책실장에 손건익씨 / (행정) 동문

정부는 11일자로 보건복지가족부 사회복지정책실장에 손건익 건강정책국장(사진·53·행시26회)을 임명했다.
경북 경주 출생인 신임 손 실장은 인창고와 국민대 행정학과를 졸업하고 영국 런던대 사회정책학 석사학위를 취득했다.
이후 복지부 생활보호과장, 복지정책과장, 정책총괄관, 노인정책관 등을 역임하며 사회안전망 분야의 풍부한 전문성과 경험을 갖췄다는 평가다.
복지부 관계자는 “외환위기 당시 노숙자, 저소득층 문제해결을 위해 국민기초생활보장제도를 도입한 경험을 가지고 있어, 제2의 외환위기로 불리는 현 경제상황과 이로 인한 신빈곤층 문제 등 긴급 민생위기 상황에 가장 신속하게 대처할 수 있는 최적임자로 평가된다”고 말했다.
