국민대학교가 북한산 자락에 터를 잡은 이후 북한산은 우리 국민*의 가슴속에 깊은 자리를 차지하고 있다. 산은 '도전', '정상'과 같은 행동의지를 표상한다. 특히 북한산은 우리에게 '굳은 의지', '흔들리지 않는 믿음'을 말없이 웅변한다. 60주년 기념 앰블렘에 형상화된 능선은 '흔들리지 않는 믿음으로 정상에 도전'하는 우리 국민*의 지난 60년 의지를 담고 있다. 60의 숫자를 빛을 발하는 일출로 형상화한 것은 아름다운 도전이 명실상부한 결실을 맺어 세상의 빛이 되기를 바라는 국민*의 염원을 담고 있다. 바탕 청색과 오색 빛은 우리 교표에 담겨 있는 대표 6색을 그대로 살렸으며, 사용 용도에 따라 적합성과 변화를 주기 위하여 청색 선으로 문양화한 type A와 청색을 채운 type B로 이원화하였다.
