새해업무가 시작되는 2012학년도 시무식이 1월 2일 오전 10시부터 한종우 이사장, 이성우 총장 및 교직원들이 참석한 가운데 북악관 로비에서 열렸다
시무식은 이사장의 신년사로 시작되었으며, 한종우 이사장은 신년사에서 "2012년은 우리에게 부과된 학내외의 도전을 기회로 바꾸고 어려움을 희망으로 일궈낼 수 있도록 만전을 기할것을 당부하며, 더 어려워진 여건에서도 연구와 교육을 지속하고 학교의 발전을 도모해야 하는 심기일전의 각오와 노력이 필요할 것"이라고 말했다.
이어진 이성우 총장의 신년사에서는 "2011년은 어려운 상황속에서도 KMU1010 발전계획을 토대로 짧은 기간 내에 안정과 성장의 기틀을 마련하였으며, 새해에도 어려운 상황을 예측하고 새로운 변화에 슬기롭고 능동적으로 대처하면 지속적인 성장세를 이룰 것으로 기대된다"고 밝혔다.
