영국 빅토리아 앤 앨버트 뮤지엄, 금속공예학과 방문

공예와 디자인 분야에서 세계적인 명성을 지닌 영국 빅토리아 앤 앨버트 뮤지엄(Victoria and Albert Museum, 이하 V&A)의 VIP 후원자 10인과 큐레이터 5인이 지난 5월 20일 국민대학교 조형대학 금속공예학과를 방문하였다.
이번 방문은 뮤지엄의 Travel with V&A South Korea 프로그램의 일환으로 진행되었으며, 금속공예학과 교수, 동문작가 및 재학생들과 만남의 시간을 가졌다.
방문단은 특히 동문과 재학생들의 작품에 대해 멘토링을 하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌으며, 학과 커리큘럼에 대한 설명과 시설을 참관하는 시간을 가졌다.
Dr. Beth McKillop V&A 큐레이터는 유럽에서 활발한 활동을 이어가는 국민대학교 출신 작가들의 우수한 결과들에 찬사를 보냈으며, 예술장신구와 공예를 통한 한국 문화의 세계적 확산에 대한 기대의 메시지를 전했다.
한편, 방문단은 이날 오후 늦게 명원민속관을 방문하여 한국 전통음악과 다도를 체험하는 시간을 가졌다.
빅토리아 앤 앨버트 뮤지엄은 영국 왕립박물관 중의 하나로, 중세부터 근대에 걸친 유럽 미술에서부터 동양미술 작품에 이르기까지 광범위한 소장품을 보유하고 있으며, 특히 장식미술, 공예분야에서는 세계적 규모와 내용을 자랑한다.
