국민대학교, 교육부 2018 대학 기본역량 진단 평가 '자율개선대학' 선정

교육부가 실시한 ‘2018년 대학 기본역량 진단’에서 국민대학교가 최고 등급인 '자율개선대학'에 선정되었다.
2018년 대학 기본역량 진단은 기본계획('17.12. 시행)에 따라, 1ㆍ2단계 진단과 부정ㆍ비리 제재 적용을 통해 자율개선대학, 역량강화대학, 재정지원제한대학 유형 IㆍII로 구분하였다. 1단계 진단은 진단 대상 대학 323교 중 293교(일반대학 160교, 전문대학 133교)를 대상으로 대학이 갖추어야 할 기본요소를 진단하고, 지난 6월 말, 진단 대상 대학의 64%를 예비 자율개선대학으로, 86교를 2단계 진단 실시 대학으로 선정‧통보하였다. 2단계 진단은 86교를 대상으로 고등교육기관으로서 지속가능성 요소를 진단하였고, 이번에는 1‧2단계 진단 결과를 합산하고, 부정‧비리 제재를 적용하여 역량강화대학과 재정지원제한대학 유형Ⅰ‧Ⅱ를 선정하였다.
자율개선대학은 진단 대상 대학 323교의 64%인 207교이다. 국민대학교는 '자율개선대학'으로 선정됨으로써, 정원감축 권고대상에서 제외되며, 2019년부터 3년간 대학이 자유롭게 사용할 수 있는 일반재정 대학혁신지원사업 I유형을 지원받아 중장기 발전계획에 따른 자율혁신을 추진할 수 있게 된다. 또한, 특수목적지원사업 등 정부 재정사업 지원 신청이 가능하고, 국가장학금과 학자금 대출 지원 등의 재정 지원을 받는다.
