우리 대학이 2022 WURI 세계혁신대학순위에서 4차산업혁명 부문 국내 1위, 세계 7위를 차지했다. WURI 세계혁신대학순위는 유엔훈련조사연수원(UNITAR), 스위스 프랭클린대 테일러 연구소, 한자 대학동맹, 한국 국제경쟁력연구원 4개기관이 공동으로 주관하는 국제 혁신대학 평가순위이다. 기존의 세계대학평가순위가 교수 논문 수와 같은 과거의 실적을 평가했다면, WURI는 대학들이 4차 산업혁명 시대에 맞게 개발한 혁신 프로그램 사례를 순위로 매겨 대학의 미래에 초점을 맞췄다는 데 차이점이 있다.
평가는 대학들이 개발한 혁신 프로그램 사례로 순위를 매긴다. 4차 산업혁명 시대에 맞게 학생들에게 얼마나 혁신적인 교육과 연구가 이뤄지고 있는지에 대해 평가한다. 기존의 세계대학순위가 교수 논문 편수, 학생 취업률 등 대학의 과거 실적이 기준이 되는 것과 달리 대학의 미래에 초점을 맞췄다는 것에 차이점이 있다. 순위는 종합순위 톱100과 함께 5개부문 ‘산업적용가능성(Industrial Application)', '창업가정신(Entrepreneurial Spirit)', ’윤리적가치(Ethical Value)‘ '학생교류 및 개방성(Student Mobility and Openness)', ‘위기관리(Crisis Management)’의 톱50도 공개된다.
특히, ‘4차 산업혁명’ 부문은 금년에 새로 도입된 분야로 인공지능과 빅데이터 등 21세기 핵심 기술로 전 세계 모든 대학의 주목을 받고 있어 그 의미가 크다. 이미 우리 대학은 자체적으로 자동차, 바이오, 빅데이터 등 핵심분야의 경쟁력을 확보하고 4차 산업혁명 관련 연구 성과를 선보이는 <4차 산업혁명 페스티벌>을 개최한 바 있다.
