지난 2006년 5월 28일부터 6월 3일까지 이스라엘 텔아비브에서 열린 OISTAT (Organization of International Scenographers, Technicians And Theatre Architects: 국제 무대미술. 기술. 극장 건축가 협회)의 역사이론위원회(Theory & History Commission)의장선거에서 예술대학 공연학부 연극영화전공의 김인준 교수가 부의장(Vice-chairman)으로 선출되었다.
OISTAT는 1967년 프라하에서 결성된 단체로서 현재 세계 48개국의 회원국으로 구성이 되어 있다. OISTAT는 무대미술분야(무대세트디자인, 무대의상디자인, 무대조명디자인)와 극장건축, 무대기술분야의 전문가들이 극장건축위원회(Theatre Architecture Commission), 무대미술위원회(Scenography Commission), 교육위원회 (Education Commission), 극장기술위원회(Technology Commission), 출판홍보위원회(Publication / Communication Commission) 역사이론위원회(Theory and History)의 6개 전문위원회에 소속되어 위원회별로 세계 각지에서 세미나와 워크숍, 전시회 등을 개최하여 무대미술과 극장건축, 극장기술 분야의 신기술 개발과 학문적 성과 등을 서로 교류한다.
그리고 프라하 콰드레날레(Prague Quadrennial)는 베네치아비엔날레에 버금가는 행사로서 프라하에서 4년마다 열리는 세계 무대미술전시회이다.
학생관, 극장건축관, 국가별 작가관 등으로 전시관 구성이 되는데 OISTAT가 주최하는 Scenofest는 전세계의 무대미술을 전공하는 학생들이 지정된 주제를 가지고 작품을 만들어 전시하고 공연을 한다. 우리나라는 지난 1991년부터 프라하 콰드레날레(Prague Quadrennial)에 참가하여 매회 수상을 했다.
그 외에 작년 캐나다 토론토에서 처음 열린 WSD(World Stage Design)전시회도 OISTAT가 주축이 돼서 만든 행사로서 디지털 기술을 무대미술영역에 도입한 전시회이다. 2009년에는 WSD 09와 OISTAT 세계총회를 서울에서 개최한다.
