금속공예 황순찬 동문, 2012 reddot design award product부분 winner 수상 / 대학원 금속공예전공 05

금속공예가 황순찬(조형대학 공예미술전공 98, 대학원 금속공예학과 05학번) 동문이 세계적인 디자인 공모전 레드닷디자인 어워드‘2012 reddot design award product부분’ winner상을 수상하였다.
Reddot Design Award는 IF(International Forum Design Award), IDEA(Industrial Design Excellence Awards)와 함께 세계적 권위의 디자인상 중 하나로 1955년 제정돼 제품디자인, 커뮤니케이션 디자인, 디자인콘셉트 등 3개 분야에 대해 시상하는 세계적인 디자인 공모전이다. 황순찬 동문은 2009년에 이어서 2012년에도 제품디자인부분에서 본상을 수상하였다.
이번 수상한 작품의 작품명은 '가갸(gagay)'로 티탄금속재료를 이용하여 직관적이고 모던하며 스타일리쉬한 이미지를 주며 가위로 종이를 잘라 만든 모델링과 같은 컨셉의 디자인은 흥미있는 종이 안경 형태이다. 또 티타늄의 장점 요소인 가벼운 비중과 강한 강도를 바탕으로 넓은 면과 얇은 두께 즉, 두꺼운 종이로 만든 듯한 비주얼한 종이 안경과 같은 이미지를 연출했다. 특히 단순해 보이는 힌지(경첩)형태를 그대로 보여줌으로써 인상적이고 독창적인 형태의 종이접이 방식이 더욱 표출된다. 가갸는 접합(땜이나 용접)이나 스크류 방식이 아닌 밴딩(접기)으로 구조를 만들어, 보기에는 간단한 구조로 보이지만 그 만의 기술적 구조가 숨어있다. 이 안경테는 어느 안경테보다 특별하고 가벼우며 착용감이 좋다.
