GIAF 광화문국제아트페스티벌 서울특별시장상 수상 / 정용현(공예미술 97) 동문

우리 대학 공예미술학과 97 동문이자, 현재 테크노디자인전문대학원 12학번 도자공예 박사과정 중인 정용현 동문이 GIAF 광화문국제아트페스티벌 서울특별시장상을 수상하였다. 작품 명은 "소통, Converse"로 정용현 동문과 최희영 씨의 공동작품이다.
Converse는 두개의 도자용기를 공중에 설치한 작품으로 어렸을 때 가지고 놀던 종이컵 전화기에서 착안되었다. 이 작업에서 두개의 도자기는 사람과 사람을 잇는 소통의 통로로써 현대사회의 소통의 부재와 그 중요성에 관한 이야기를 담고자 한다.
또한 흙과 테크놀로지를 결합한 콜라보레이션 작업으로, 각 분야에 전문성이 있는 두 작가의 협업을 통해 작가간의 소통 그리고 재료간의 소통을 보여주고자 한다.
두개의 도자기는 소리에 반응하는 발광 와이어로 연결되어 있다. 이 작품은 인터렉티브 아트로써 관객은 대화나 박수 등의 소리로 작품에 참여하고 완성시킨다. 또 작품은 관객의 소리를 시각화 하여 보여줌으로써 관객에게 즐거운 체험의 시간을 주고자 한다.
