강병하(기계시스템공학부) 교수가 12월 6일 거행된 국제기능올림픽대회 유공자 훈포상 수여식 행사에서 한국기술대표로 지난 7월 독일 국제기능올림픽대회에서 한국의 18번째 종합우승을 달성하는데 기여한 공로로 녹조근정훈장을 수여받았다.
우리나라는 지난 7월 독일 국제기능올림픽에서 총 37개 직종, 41명의 선수가 출전해 금 12개, 은 5개, 동 6개를 획득해 18번째 종합우승을 차지하는 쾌거를 이룬 바 있다.
이에 고용부와 공단은 선수, 국제심사위원, 지도위원 등 국제기능올림픽 유공자 122명과 4개 기관에 정부 포상을 수여했다. 이들은 각각 훈장(28명), 포장(16명), 대통령표창(10명), 국무총리표창(17명), 고용노동부장관표창(55명)을 받았다.
정현옥 차관은 이날 수여식에서 "경쟁국가의 거친 도전에도 불구하고 부단한 노력 끝에 통산 18회 종합우승 및 전원 우수상 이상 수상의 성과를 낸 선수단을 보니 가슴이 벅차오른다"며 "정부도 '기술이 우대받는 능력중심사회'를 구현하기 위한 다양한 정책들을 꼼꼼히 추진해 나가겠다"고 전했다.
