정보통신·방송 기술개발사업 선정 / 임은진(컴퓨터공학부) 교수

국민대학교 컴퓨터공학부 임은진 교수 연구팀이 미래창조과학부에서 지원하는 정보통신·방송 기술개발사업(연구과제명 : 매니코어 기반 초고성능 스케일러블 OS 기초연구)의 수행 연구기관으로 선정되어 앞으로 8년간 24억원의 연구비를 지원받게 된다.
임은진 교수 연구팀이 참여하는 프로젝트는 1,000코어 이상의 확장성을 지원하는 매니코어 시스템에서 성능을 증가시키면서 전력사용량을 최소화하는 저전력 확장형 매니코어 OS기초 기술 연구개발을 그 목적으로 하고 있으며 한국전자통신연구원의 SW기초연구센터를 설립, 타 기관과의 인적네트워크 구성을 통한 ⌜국내외 차세대 OS 커뮤니티⌟로의 발전을 기대하며 다양한 분야의 전문가들과 사업화를 추진하고자 한다.
관련하여 임은진 교수 연구팀은 본 연구를 통하여 매니코어 OS 기술이 적용되는 대형서버 뿐만 아니라, 다양한 모바일 기기, UHDTV 등 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 매니코어 시스템 보급으로 관련 SW 산업의 경제적 효과가 있을 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.
