2014 Art Jewelry Forum Artist Award 수상 / 권슬기 동문 (금속공예학과 02)

실리콘을 주재료로 작업하는 장신구작가 권슬기(국민대학교 조형대학 금속공예학과 02, 대학원 금속공예학과 07) 동문이 미국의 Art Jewelry Forum이 선정한 2014 Art Jewelry Forum Artists Award 수상자로 선정되었다.
매년 전 세계의 35세 이하의 젊은 장신구 작가를 대상으로 하는 이 상은 장신구 작가의 가능성과 혁신, 개성을 인정하는 국제적인 권위를 지닌 장신구 분야의 상으로, 2014년에는 27개국으로부터 123명의 작가가 응모하였다. 작품의 독창성과 개념의 깊이, 장인정신을 심사기준으로 한 이번 공모전의 5명의 Finalists 중 우리대학 금속공예학과 졸업생인 권슬기 동문과 김희주(금속공예학과 03, 대학원 07) 동문이 선정되었으며, 이중 권슬기 동문이 최종 수상자로 선정되는 영예를 가졌다.
심사위원들은 권슬기의 작업에 대해 “권슬기는 매우 아름답고 시적인 투명함으로 실리콘과 유리, 색료를 사용한다. 그녀의 작업은 시적이고 고전적인 요소들을 매우 현대적으로 구성하였다.”, “그녀는 재료를 혁신적이고 아름답게 사용하여 그녀의 작업은 눈을 뗄 수 없게 만든다." 며 최종 수상자 선정 이유를 밝혔다.
권슬기 동문은 2015년 3월 뮌헨의 수공예박람회에서 다른 Finalists 4명과 함께 전시회를 할 기회를 갖게 되며, 미화 7500 달러의 상금이 수여된다. 또한 1년 동안 Art Jewelry Forum의 회원으로 다양한 활동기회를 갖고 2015 Art Jewelry Forum Artists Award의 심사위원으로 참가한다.
권슬기 동문은 이탈리아 폰다지오네 코미넬리에서 열린 “Cominelli Foundation 2012” 국제 공모전에서 First Prize 상을, 이태리 피렌체 장신구 아카데미 스쿨인 Le Arti orafe 에서 주관하는 국제 공모전 "Preziosa young 2011" 에서도 입상한 경력이 있다.
