김세중, 프로농구 선수 출신 첫 전임교수 임용 화제 / (대학원 체육학과 07 동문)

인천 전자랜드에서 활약했던 김세중(36)이 프로농구 선수 출신으로는 처음으로 전임 교수에 임용돼 화제다.
전자랜드 구단에 따르면 김세중은 지난 3월 1일부터 경북 구미에 소재한 경운대학교 사회체육학과 전임 교수로 임용돼 학생들을 지도하고 있다. 2002년 경희대를 졸업하고 전체 15순위로 인천 SK(현 인천 전자랜드)에 입단한 그는 2007년까지 5시즌 동안 전자랜드에서 파워포워드와 센터로 활약했다. 성실한 선수 생활을 했으나 부상으로 경기 출전 횟수는 많지 않다.
그는 선수생활 중 운동과 공부를 병행해가며 2007년 석사학위를 취득했고, 은퇴 후 2011년에는 국민대학교에서 박사학위를 땄다. 그동안 서울 소재 대학교에서 이론과 실습을 겸한 외래교수로 실력을 쌓으며 준비해온 그는 올해 마침내 전임교수로 임용됐다.
김세중 교수는 “산학 협력 선도대학으로 수도권에서도 꽤 알려져 있는 경운대학교에 임용이 돼 매우 기쁘다”며 “맞춤형 인재육성을 목표로 학문적 깊이와 학과 발전을 위해 최선을 다 하겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
