미국 공예·디자인박람회 'SOFA'서 3D프린팅을 이용한 의자 출품 / 정령재(대학원 금속공예학과 11) 동문

매년 미국 시카고에서 개최되는 SOFA(Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design)는 올해로 23년을 맞이하는 미국의 대표적인 공예 아트 페어로, 70개 이상의 갤러리와 32,000여 명이 참석하는 행사로서 USA Today 독자들이 뽑은 ‘10 Best Art Events’에서 7위를 차지한 바 있다. 작가 개인 자격이 아닌 갤러리 참여만 가능한 페어이며, 한국공예디자인문화진흥원 역시 최근 매년 참가하고 있다. 진흥원은 한국의 하이엔드 공예 시장 개척 및 유통 활성화를 위해 주요 국가별 공예 아트 페어에 참가하고 있으며, 예술성을 갖춘 현대 공예 작품을 엄선하여 세계 공예 예술계에 선보이고 있다.
정령재(일반대학원 금속공예학과 11) 동문은 한국공예디자인문화진흥원을 통해 올해 SOFA Chicago(2016. 11. 3 ~ 6, Chicago Navy Pier Festival Hall)에 이재익(금속공예), 배세진(도자공예), 정지숙(도자공예), 원재선(장신구), 이영주(장신구), 강혜림(장신구) 등과 함께 참가작가 7인에 선정되었으며, 그의 반복 문양으로 생성된 3D프린팅을 이용한 의자 3점이 국제 공예, 디자인 시장에 소개되는 기회를 가졌다.
