‘시민과학 풀씨’ 연구 프로젝트 지원사업에 선정 / 산림환경시스템학과 학생팀

국민대학교 산림환경시스템학과 학부생으로 구성된 ‘별빛을 품은 도시(3학년 박현진, 배정은, 2학년 이세희, 정민하)’ 팀이 ‘별이 빛나는 Eco-City’ 프로젝트로 재단법인 ‘숲과 나눔’과 ‘동아사이언스’에서 주최한 시민과학 풀씨 연구 지원사업에 최종 선정되었다. 시민과학 풀씨는 환경·생태 분야 연구자들이 시민과학자들과 함께 연구하며 성과를 도출해 내는 연구 프로젝트 지원사업이다. 올해 6월부터 11일까지 300만원의 지원금을 받아 프로젝트를 수행하게 되며, 동아사이언스의 ‘지구사랑탐사대’ 단원들이 시민과학자로 참여할 예정이다.
이 프로젝트에서는 빛 공해를 주제로 시민과학자들이 밤하늘의 별자리와 매미의 울음소리를 관찰해 빛 공해와 그로 인한 생태계 교란의 문제를 인식하고, 이를 해결하기 위한 대안을 모색하고자 한다. ‘별빛을 품은 도시’ 팀은 시민과학 프로젝트로 인해 많은 사람이 빛 공해에 대한 심각성을 깨닫고, 더 나아가 빛 공해를 줄이기 위한 정책을 마련하는 발판이 되기를 소망했다. 그리고 시민과학자들과의 원활한 소통과 짜임새 있는 연구수행으로 프로젝트를 성공적으로 마치겠다는 의지를 밝혔다.
