‘국제 업사이클 아트&디자인’ 공모전 은상 수상 / 현성환(대학원 금속공예학과 19)

시상식 광명시 박승원시장과 함께 (우측 현승환)
국민대학교 일반대학원 금속공예학과 재학 중인 현성환(학부 12학번)이 광명 업사이클 아트센터에서 개최한 '국제 업사이클 아트&디자인' 공모전에서 '플라스틱컵을 재활용한 조명'으로 은상을 수상했다.
2015년 6월 개관한 광명 업사이클 아트센터는 업사이클(버려진 물건에 예술적 가치를 더해 새로운 작품이나 상품으로 재탄생)을 주제로 전시와 디자인 교육 및 이벤트가 상시 열리는 복합예술 공간이다.
이번 공모전은 작년 독일에서 국내 업사이클 작품을 전시한 경험을 바탕으로 워크숍, 국제공모전 등 새로운 사업을 추가해 진행하는 '국제업사이클 문화교류 사업'의 일환으로 마련됐다. 광명시는 이번 공모전을 통해 국내·외 업사이클 우수 작품들을 공유하고 광명시만의 지역 특화 콘텐츠로서 환경과 디자인을 결합시킨 '업사이클 예술'를 전세계에 알리고자 한다.
공모전은 1, 2차 심사를 통해 금상 2명, 은상 2명, 동상 3명, 입선 5명까지 총 12명에게 상금과 함께 상장을 수여했다. 수상작은 2019년 10월 25일부터 11월 10일까지 독일 라이프치히 KONGRESSHALLE am ZOO와 A/O KUSTHALLE에서 전시될 예정이다.
