국민대학교 물고미즈팀, ‘2019 LG글로벌챌린저' 최우수상 수상

국민대학교 ‘물고미즈’팀(신소재공학부 윤선화(16), 박지현(15), 경영정보학부 김률아(15), 공업디자인학과 조은봄(15), 지도교수 남원석)은 지난 31일, ‘2019 LG글로벌 챌린저' 최종 평가에서 최우수상을 수상했다.
물고미즈팀은 ‘생존 달인 물곰의 단백질, 새로운 혈액 보전법을 제시하다.’라는 독특한 주제로 연 평균 21:1의 높은 경쟁률을 뚫고 25기 LG글로벌챌린저에 선발되었으며, 탐방 및 연구 과정을 거쳐 최종 평가에서 탐방 보고서와 프레젠테이션 심사결과 최우수상의 영예를 안았다. 국민대 최초로 최우수상을 수상한 팀 전원에게는 상금 및 부상을 비롯해 LG사 입사자격이 부여되었다.
‘물고미즈’팀은 미국 노스 캐롤라이나 대학, 뉴욕 혈액 센터(NYBC), 하버드 대학 등의 해외 유수 연구기관 탐방을 통해 물곰을 이용한 새로운 혈액 보관 연구에 대한 선진 사례를 분석하고 이에 대한 실용화 방안을 구체화된 디자인안과 함께 제시하여 높은 평가를 받았다. 또한, 본교의 지도교수인 공업디자인학과 남원석 교수를 비롯하여 신소재 공학부의 조기섭 교수, 경영정보학부의 안현철 교수 등 다분야에 걸친 자문을 통해 보다 구체적인 실용화 방안을 제시하였다. LG글로벌챌린저는 1995년 시작된 국내 최초·최장수 대학생 해외탐방 프로그램으로 2018년까지 794개 팀, 3,033명의 챌린저 대원을 배출한 바 있다.
