화재보험협회, 제18대 이사장에 강영구 전 메리츠화재 사장 확정 / 강영구(정치외교학과 82) 동문

한국화재보험협회는 제18대 이사장으로 강영구<사진> 전 메리츠화재 사장을 확정했다고 11일 밝혔다.
이사장추천위원회는 지난 2일 강 전 사장을 차기 협회 이사장으로 단독 추천했다. 협회는 11일 국내 11개 손해보험회사로 구성된 사원총회를 개최하고, 강 전 사장을 제18대 이사장으로 확정했다. 제18대 이사장 취임일은 오는 21일이다. 오미크론 확산 등으로 인해 취임식은 생략한다.
강 신임 이사장은 1956년생으로 국민대학교를 졸업한 후 1982년 보험감독원에 입사했다. 이후 2010년 금융감독원 부원장보·보험업서비스본부장으로 퇴임했다. 2010년 제9대 보험개발원장, 롯데손해보험 사외이사, 메리츠화재 사장·윤리경영실장, 푸르덴셜생명 사외이사 등을 역임했다.
한편 화재보험협회는 1973년 화재보험법에 따라 설립된 국내 최고의 손해보험 위험관리 전문기관이다. 화재 등 각종 재해로부터 중대형 건물인 특수건물의 화재안전점검, 방재기술 시험연구, 화재보험 보험요율 할인등급 사정, 화재원인조사, 안전문화 개선을 위한 교육홍보 등의 업무를 수행하고 있다.
