신간 <의심 하는 인간> 출간 / 박규철(교양대학) 교수

서구 철학사에서 철저하게 외면받아온 고대 회의주의를 새롭게 평가하고 일련의 계보로 재구성하여 오늘날 우리에게 필요한 회의주의의 덕목을 제시한다. 또한, 그동안 플라톤 및 아리스토텔레스를 중심으로 구성돼온 ‘이성 중심의 철학사’에 대한 반론을 제기하고, 회의주의자들이 일상에서 지니는 삶의 기술로서 변증술, 판단유보, 마음의 평안(평정심) 등을 제시한다.
박규철 교수는 연세대학교 철학과를 졸업하고 같은 대학 대학원에서 플라톤의 《고르기아스》 편 연구로 박사학위를 받았다. 연세대학교 인문학연구원 전문연구원, 월간 《에머지》 및 《넥스트》 편집장 그리고 아신대학교 교수를 지냈다. 현재 국민대학교 교양대학 서양고대철학 교수이자 후마니타스 리더십 연구소장이며, 한국동서철학회 부회장 및 한국중세철학회 편집위원으로 활동하고 있다. 전공 분야는 소크라테스와 플라톤 철학이지만, 연구 영역을 확장하여 고대 회의주의가 오늘날 우리에게 주는 통찰이란 무엇인지 제시하고자 이 책을 썼다.
