2022 DMZ International Forum (국제포럼) 연사로 나서 / 임철희(교양대학) 교수

우리 대학 교양대학의 임철희 교수가 2022 DMZ 국제포럼에 연사로 참여하여, ‘한반도 기후·환경협력을 통한 평화지대 모색’의 주제에 대해 발표하였으며, DMZ International Forum 온라인 채널을 통해 생중계 되었다.
대외경제정책연구원(KIEP, 김흥종 원장)과 경제·인문사회연구회(NRC, 정해구 이사장), 인천광역시(유정복 시장)는 11월 3일(목)~4일(금) 양일간 “글로벌 대전환과 경제안보 시대, 한반도 평화와 국제협력(Peace on the Korean Peninsula and International Cooperation in the Era of Great Transformation and Economic Security)”을 주제로 「2022 DMZ 국제포럼」을 개최했다.
임철희 교수는 「접경지역에서 초국가적 도시주권과 평화지대의 모색」 세션에서 글로벌 다중위기 속에서 앞으로의 남북한 공동의 대응을 지향하며, 특히 기후·환경 이슈가 서로의 공감대를 만들 수 있는 주제가 될 것으로 제시하였다. 특히, 유엔기후변화협약 등과 같은 국제협력 메커니즘을 활용한 기술협력 방안을 구체적 방안으로 발표하였다.
이번 국제포럼에서는 한국, 미국, 중국, 일본, 프랑스 등 다양한 국가의 전문가들이 모여 심도 있는 토론을 진행하였으며, 새롭게 부상하는 경제안보·기후위기 이슈와 남북 분단에서 기인하는 전통안보 이슈를 우리 정부에서 추진하고 있는 다양한 정책과 연계하여 논의할 수 중요한 모멘텀이 되었다는 평가를 받았다.
