유엔(UN) 주최 워크숍에서 인공지능과 기후변화 주제로 기조 강연 / 임철희 (산림환경시스템학과) 교수

국민대학교(총장 정승렬) 과학기술대학 산림환경시스템학과 임철희 교수가 2026년 5월 12일~14일에 진행된 유엔(UN) 주최 워크숍에서 인공지능과 기후회복력에 대한 기조 강연(Keynote Presentation)을 진행하였다.
“Strengthening Whole-of-Society Capacities for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Resilience: Inclusive Governance and Innovative Mechanisms” 라는 주제로 개최된 이번 워크숍은 유엔의 경제사회국(DESA), CTCN(기후기술센터네트워크), UNDRR(유엔재난위험경감), UNITAR(유엔훈련연구기구) 등 관련 유엔기구들이 공동 주최하는 온라인 역량강화 행사였다. 본 행사에 5,000명 이상의 유엔기구 담당자, 개발도상국 공무원 등이 참여하였으며, 임철희 교수는 “The era of automation and artificial intelligence for DRR and climate resilience”라는 주제로 기조 강연을 진행했다.
특히, 이번 강연은 전 세계에 인공지능 시대 기후변화 대응의 방향을 제시하였고, 우리 대학에서 개발한 인공지능 기반 기후변화 대응 기술들을 다수 소개하며, 국민대학교의 연구 능력과 기술을 전 세계에 알리는 기회가 되었다.
임철희 교수는 “유엔이 추진하는 국제행사에서 국민대학교의 주요 기술들이 전 세계에 소개된 것은 의미가 크다”고 밝혔으며, “우리 대학에서 개발하는 기술들로 글로벌 기후변화 대응에 기여하겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
