국민대 대학생들, 농촌봉사활동에 팔 걷는다

여름방학을 맞은 국민대학교(총학생회장 최창영) 학생들이 가뭄과 일손 부족으로 어려운 현실에 처해 있는 농촌봉사활동을 위해 제천지역을 찾아 단비 같은 소식이 되고 있다.
이번 국민대학교 학생들의 농촌봉사활동은 23일부터 오는 7월 2일까지 열흘간 덕산지역에서 열리며 참여 인원도 420여명에 이를 전망이다.
이들은 1사1촌 자매결연 마을인 덕산면 수산1리를 비롯해 모두 12개 마을에 분산돼 농활에 나서게 된다.
학생들은 대부분 많은 일손을 필요로 하는 적채, 감자, 마늘 수확활동을 돕게 되며 일부에서는 생태마을정비나 폐비닐 수거 작업에도 손을 보탠다.
이형민 덕산면장은 "요즘 농촌은 고양이 손이라도 빌려야 할 만큼 일손이 필요하다"며 "이번 국민대학교 학생들의 농촌봉사활동은 가뭄이 단비처럼 농민들에게 큰 힘을 주게 될 것"이라고 말했다.
