동국제강, 컬러강판으로 서울건축문화제 공간 시공 / 장운규(건축학부) 교수

동국제강은 프리미엄 컬러강판 제품인`럭스틸(LUXTEEL)`을 2015 서울 건축문화제에서 선보인다고 8일 밝혔다.
동국제강은 국민대 장윤규 교수와 협력해 컬러강판 럭스틸을 사용해 2015 서울 건축문화제 메인 전시공간을 만들었고, 설계를 맡은 장 교수는 국세청 남대문별관으로 사용되다 철거된 옛 조선총독부 체신청 부지를 그대로 활용해 `럭스틸 마운틴(LUXTEEL Mountain)`이란 이름으로 전시공간을 디자인했다.
철골 기둥 숲에 경사 형태의 지붕을 배열해 도심 한가운데 임시로 만들어지는 산수 풍경의 지붕을 구현하고 커튼월, 벽체 등도 럭스틸을 가공해 마감하는 등 소재의 장점을 최대한 활용했다.
전시회가 끝난 뒤에도 건축물을 폐기하지 않고 적절한 장소에 재구축할 수 있는재활용 개념도 도입했다. 이 곳은 이날부터 11월 8일까지 열리는 서울 건축문화제 기간 올해의 건축상 수상작을 비롯한 10여개 전시회가 상시적으로 열리는 메인 전시장이며, 2017년 서울 건축비엔날레도 열릴 예정이다.
