영은미술관이 영은창작스튜디오 9기 입주작가 조혜진과 배서영의 개인전을 마련한다.
우선 제4전시관에서 오는 27일까지 조혜진의 개인전 <봄>을 선보인다. 조 작가는 서울여자대학교 서양화과, 국민대학교 대학원 회화과를 졸업했다.
작가는 주로 방치되거나 폐기된 사물을 소재로 작업한다. 폐허가 된 집 속의 문과 창문의 틀 등 흔적을 간직한 공간 속 사물을 수집해 작품을 완성한다. 분해된 나무창틀은 집 모양의 작품이 된다.
이와 관련 조 작가는 작가수첩에 “나무 창틀은 작업을 위해 다루는 동안 미약한 사물이 아니라는 것을 느꼈다. 긁히고 파인 흔적들, 홈을 팔 때 나무가 갈리며 내뿜는 각자 다른 냄새들, 나무창틀 하나하나가 그 집에 살았던 사람들 같이 느껴졌기 때문”이라고 적었다.
일상에서 볼 수 있는 소재가 작가적 시선과 결합, 예술작품으로 재탄생하는 과정과 결과를 확인할 수 있는 전시다.
