[매일경제]구슬에 담은 생명력…김인숙 구슬공예 전/김인숙(사회학과) 명예교수

김인숙 국민대 명예교수(72) 전시 `구슬정원`이 서울 중구 장충동 서울클럽 한라산룸에서 열린다.
김 명예교수는 7년 전 교수직에서 은퇴한 후 공예 작가로 변신했다. 정년 퇴임 후 장신구 디자이너로 제2 인생을 사는 셈이다. 그는 비취 옥돌 등으로 목걸이 핀 등 장신구 작품을 만든다.
작품 전시는 올해로 벌써 8회째다. 작품은 실용성과 예술성을 겸비했다. 눈부신 장신구는 오색찬란한 광채를 내뿜는다. 하지만 아름다운 외형이 전부가 아니다. 작품엔 김인숙 명예교수 철학이 숨어 있다. 작가는 은퇴 후 구슬 작업을 하면서 삶의 즐거움을 느낀다고 한다. 은퇴한 노교수가 아닌 생명력이 꿈틀거리는 작가는 구슬 작업을 통해 세상을 보는 안목뿐 아니라 창조력을 높이고 있다.
김 명예교수는 "나이가 들수록 새로운 것에 도전해야 늙지 않는다"며 "구슬 공예는 내 삶의 원동력"이라고 말한다. 전시는 4월 5~9일. (02)2238-7666
