국민대 신소재공학부–도호쿠대, 공동지도 박사학위 과정 본격 운영

국민대학교 신소재공학부와 일본 도호쿠대학 공과대학은 박사과정 학생의 Jointly-Supervised Ph.D. Degree(JSD) 프로그램 협정을 체결하고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.
JSD 프로그램에 참여하는 박사과정 학생은 국민대와 도호쿠대 교수진의 공동지도를 받으며, 상대 대학에서 최소 6개월 이상 연구를 수행하게 된다. 이후 원소속 대학에서 영어로 작성한 박사학위 논문을 제출하고 영어로 학위심사를 진행한다.
프로그램을 성공적으로 이수한 학생에게는 원소속 대학의 박사학위와 함께 국민대학교와 도호쿠대학교가 해당 학생의 박사과정을 공동지도했음을 공식적으로 증명하는 인증서가 수여된다.
현재 국민대학교 신소재공학전공 이효정 학생(석사 3학기)과 이우영 학생(석•박사통합과정 3학기)이 도호쿠대학교에 6개월간 파견되어 공동연구를 수행하고 있으며, 이우영 학생은 JSD 프로그램에 공식 등록해 양 대학 교수진의 공동지도를 받는 첫 사례로 프로그램을 시작했다.
신소재공학부는 향후에도 우수 박사과정 학생의 참여를 확대해 도호쿠대학교와의 국제 공동연구 및 글로벌 인재양성을 강화할 계획이다.
