(서울=연합뉴스) 김용래 기자 = ▲과학사회학의 쟁점들 = 김환석 지음. 국민대 사회학과 교수인 저자가 10년간 연구했던 연구논문들을 결산해 수정보완했다.
과학기술학 또는 과학기술과 사회를 연구하는 'STS연구회'를 이끌어온 저자는 책에서 무엇보다 우리의 인식과 제도에서 과학문화와 인문문화의 괴리현상이 발생하고 있다고 지적하고 이러한 '두 문화' 현상에 대해 심각한 우려를 나타낸다.
인문사회과학자와 일반인은 과학기술에 관심을 갖거나 이해하지 않아도 된다고 생각하고, 과학기술자 역시 자신들의 분야가 사회문화적 요소들로부터 초연한 순수합리적인 세계에 속한다고 생각하는 현상에 대해 저자는 "박정희 시대 이후 지금까지 과학기술을 오로지 경제 성장의 수단으로만 간주해온 정부의 과학기술 정책에도 한 원인이 있다"고 지적한다.
