나노전자물리학과 김철성교수가 한국자기학회 9대 회장에 당선

지난 10월 27일 나노전자물리학과 김철성교수가 한국자기학회 9대 회장에 당선되었다.
한국자기학회는 “자성의 기초 및 응용에 관한 학문과 기술의 향상과 산업진흥에 공여함”을 목적으로 하여 1990년 11월에 정식으로 창립되었으며, 등록회원이 1,000여명으로 여러 활동을 통하여 학술진흥재단에 등재되어있는 학회로 매년 국문지 6권, 영문지 4권을 출간하고 있다. 1999년에는 Intermag 학회를 국내에서 유치하여 훌륭하게 치러낸 바가 있다. 또한 물리를 비롯한 전기, 전자, 신소재, 화학 등의 모든 분야의 연구자들이 활발하게 활동하게 하고 있는 학회로써, 현재 자기분야의 새로운 연구결과를 발표하고 매년 2회 이상 학술발표회와 특집프로그램을 개최하고, 1년에 100 ~ 150 여 편의 국문 및 영문 논문들을 게재하고 있다. 한국자기학회 회장의 임기는 2007년 1월 1일부터 2008년 12월 31일까지 2년간이며 내년 1월부터 자기학회 회장으로서의 임무를 수행하게 된다.
김철성 교수는 한국자기학회가 수여하는 강일구상과 한국물리학회 학술상을 수상한 바가 있으며, 현재 한국자기학회 학술위원장과 한국물리학회의
부회장 겸 새물리 편집위원장을 역임 중이며, 지난 2006년 4월에는 International Biographical Centre (IBC)에서
선정하는 2006년 Top Scientists에 선정되었다.
