신소재공학과 대학원생, 대한금속 재료학회 재료조직사진상 가작상 수상

우리나라 공학분야 최대 학회중의 하나인 대한금속 재료학회에서(2014년 4월 24일, 대구컨벤션센터 개최) 본교 신소재공학과 대학원생 박혜지, 조현경, 최명근 학생(지도교수: 최희만)이 ‘Three-dimensionally structured Cu, Ni foams with sub-micron pores through the interference of light’이라는 작품으로 기술부문 가작상을 수상하였다. 이 대회는 매년 개최되는 대한금속 재료학회에서 재료에 관한 학술 또는 기술발전에 유익하다고 인정되는 조직사진에 대하여 치열한 경쟁을 통해 우수상, 가작상, 장려상을 수여하는 대한금속 재료학회 주관 재료조직사진상 경연대회이다.
본 작품은 KAIST의 신소재공학과 연구팀과 공동으로 혁신적이고 새로운 방법을 통해 나노 기공으로 이루어진 3차원 다공성 금속구조체를 제작하여 출품되었다. 3차원 나노패터닝 기술 (proximity-field nanopatterning)을 활용하여 (KAIST 안창의 학생: 지도교수 전석우) SU-8 포토레지스트에 3차원 정렬 나노 기공 구조를 제작하였고, 무전해 금속 도금법을 통해 3차원 나노 다공성 폴리머 템플릿 위에 구리, 니켈을 증착시켜 수백 나노미터로 기공크기를 갖는 구리, 니켈폼을 성공적으로 제작하였다. 그 결과에 대한 재료조직사진을 대한금속 재료학회 재료조직사진상 경연대회에 출품하여 가작상을 수상하게 된 것이다. 제작된 구리 및 니켈 다공성 구조체는 향후 에너지 전극 분야에 유용하게 쓰일 전망이다.
