광화문 복합문화예술공간 아트조선스페이스에서 전시 열어 / 이규홍(공예미술학과 91) 동문

세계적인 주목을 받고 있는 우리 대학 공예미술학과 이규홍 동문이 지난 3월 23일(토)까지 광화문 복합문화예술공간 아트조선스페이스에서 정명택 작가와 함께 전시를 열었다.
이번 전시에서는 빛을 머금고 아름답게 발산하는 유리를 다루는 이규홍 동문과 거칠면서도 깊이감을 품은 나무, 금속, 석재를 다루는 정명택 두 작가가 경이로운 공예 작품 20여 점을 선보였다.
이규홍 작가는 이번 전시에서 래미네이트 코팅된 유리판 위 빛을 반사하는 유리 조각의 호응으로 잔잔한 에너지를 일으키는 작품 ‘빛의 숨결’을 비롯해 최초로 공개하는 신작 병풍 시리즈도 선보였으며, 오래된 건물에서 쓰이던 나무 창틀에 비정형적인 유리 조각을 붙여 작가가 느꼈던 환상적인 체험의 순간을 관객들에게 선사했다.
영국 에든버러 예술대학교 대학원을 졸업한 이규홍 동문은 2023년 로에베 재단 공예상(Loewe Foundation Craft Prize)에 파이널리스트로 이름을 올리기도 했으며, 현재는 우리 대학 디자인대학원 유리조형디자인 전공 겸임교수로 재직 중이다.
